Shien's Sleeves rigging tutorial
Hello guys and welcome to my first tutorial regarding sleeves rigging.
Since some members requested about sleeve rigging tutorial, well here it is guys, sorry it took long for me to create this, because I'm twice as busy now at school
So this is my own method of sleeve rigging, this is sure as hell as easy and you can do this for 5 minutes once you've memorized the steps. If there are some wrong method or some steps that'll be more easier on what I'm gonna show you, kindly post it in this thread and I'll be gladly edit this time to time since I'm gonna show you sleeve rigging that is easy for me, also, if you have a bone assigning experience. then this is a piece of cake for you
programs needed: Milkshape 3d, half life model viewer, HLmodel compiler/decompiler
here we go.
Okay first, grab the model that you wanted to rig some sleeves, in this case I'll be using an MP7
next, look for a weapon with sleeves, I'll be using this mw2 p90
Now. Open your MS3D and decompile those models using kratisto's half life model decompiler or any half life model decompiler you have
and then after decompiling, import and try to look for the hand reference of the weapon you want to have sleeves, remember to include the skeletons.
next, look for the decompiled mw2 weapon model and look for the sleeves, once you've done that import the sleeves but this time, uncheck the skeleton checkbox since were gonna assign them to a new bone, some sleeves will be oversized/undersize or out of place. so you may need to rescale them or reposition
after repositioning:
then I want you guys to pull back the sleeves a little bit. you can do that by selecting the group of sleeves.
Once you've done that, we'll be assigning the sleeves to the new bones. I prefer to rig sleeves on css hands since it's alot easier. now to assign them, you have to look for the skeleton of the forearm. go to the joints area ( located at the upper right ) and look for the bones of the forearms since the sleeves are located to the forearms. Once you've found them, Manually select one of the sleeves and then assign them, In this case the forearm joint is named L_forearm which of course, the left forearm. manually select the sleeve facing the that forearm then assign it on L_forearm(Do this on the other sleeves but look for the R_forearm which stands for right forearm)
If you're having a problem looking for the fore arm, try to select the joints one by one and click select assign since it shows what is the area of that joint. if you managed to found the joint where the forearm is located, proceed to the next step
once the sleeves are in their respective joints, reposition the sleeves to the hand.
okay so far so good, once they are again in the perfect position. I want you guys to go to the groups>then delete the V_hands, this will remove the hand reference, after that export your sleeve model on the folder of the weapon that you wanted to have sleeve and export it as a half life smd reference, I use the word sleeve so it would be saved as sleeve.smd whenever I export a sleeve model
the last thing you'll do is edit your QC file, add this line so the sleeves will be added
then look for the texture of that sleeves and copy it in the folder of the weapon you're working on and finally compile it.
and if you've followed the steps correctly, voila! a sleeved weapon model
just change the hand texture to an MW2 hand texture as a finishing touch
If you have any questions/clarifications kindly pm me or message me on my facebook ad.
Special thanks to domar for giving me an idea about rigging sleeves.

Re: Shien's Sleeves rigging tutorial
you can put any name if you want in "$body "ishin" "ishin"
remember you must separate the .smd files or else it wont work
did you followed the TUT(tutorial) that i made?

thanks..
that gps stuff is already in an mw2 sleeve,
if you want to add other gps model on a sleeve/hand reference, all you do is import that gps model reference, position it, assign to the forearm joint and compile
import gps>position/rescale gps>assign to joint>compile
